Whether you are aware of it or not, you are constantly talking to yourself in your head. Your thoughts race through your mind providing a commentary on anything and everything, including yourself.
If you love and accept yourself, the things you say about yourself will generally be positive and affirming, however, for many of us the voice in our heads is an unrelenting critic, pointing out what we have done wrong, judging ourselves and often telling ourselves how worthless we are! In fact, most of us say things to ourselves that we wouldn’t dream of saying to anyone else.
Unfortunately many of us learn to think negative things about ourselves when we are children. Adults passing comments in anger or frustration is something as children we can take to heart. Other children say mean things and send us the message that something is wrong with us. Whatever the cause, by the time we are adults, many of us have developed ways of thinking and talking to ourselves that are negative and destructive. So time to change those negative thoughts.
