Lemon balm is an easy plant to grow and some prefer to grow this herb in larger pots as they have runners and spread. This plant is true to its nature as it likes sheltered spots amongst other plants.
Lemon Balm is also known as ‘sweet balm’ or simply ‘balm’ and has a Latin name ’Melissa officinales’ which is derived from the Greek word for ‘honey bee’, indicative of the common Mediterranean plant’s ability to attract bees. The plant lemon balm is a very popular plant with herbalists used as a tonic to sustain the nervous system, especially under periods of stress and historically has been a favourite ingredient in many ‘elixirs of youth’ brews.
