Lactose intolerance is quite common, so why are so many people reacting to lactose based foods? The answer lies is the inability of the digestive system to absorb and utilise lactose, the predominant sugar in cow’s milk. After all it is a food that is intended for growing calves not humans. Goat’s milk is the nearest milk tolerated by humans.
The lactose reaction triggers off an intestinal wall response by building up a mucous barrier to protect the intestinal and gut walls. This mucous effect builds up and if one cannot eliminate this through normal bowel efforts, then the nasal route, ear drum and throat becomes the next best exit. Continued use can make this build up of mucous a bed for bacteria and infections. The medical answer is to surgically remove the inflamed tonsils, or appendix, but that does not stop the food intolerance.
