People always ask naturopaths the same old question: “Should I be on a high or low protein diet to lose and maintain my weight?”

People always ask naturopaths the same old question: “Should I be on a high or low protein diet to lose and maintain my weight?” For most people the word ‘diet’ usually implies some type of short-term weight loss programme, but in reality, should be considered a lifelong approach to using the correct foods to improve and maintain a healthy life.

What's making people overweight

- the fats, or the carbs, or the lifestyle? Eating fat doesn't necessarily make you fat. In general, most people are consuming less fat than they were 10 years ago. Whereas, people have become very conscious about dietary fat, we tend to cut the fat from our meat, don't we? But why then, as a nation, are we getting fatter? We are consuming almost the same amount of fat now than before. But over the past 10 years, we also have been consuming additional calories from more refined flours and processed foods as well as a lot more sugar
