The very word ‘aphrodisiacs’ fires up the imagination, but do they really work and is it really possible to take a herbal remedy or potion to increase ones physical desires and energy capability?
What Works and What Doesn’t
Virtually every culture in the world has explored the use of aphrodisiacs in order to boost, or cure, impotency. In Roman times certain foods were considered to work if they were ‘warm and moist’ and caused flatulence; this was considered to inflate the penis and figs were considered the ‘desire’ food. In the Mediterranean, it was oysters, in Asia, rhino horns, tiger tails and shark fins. Today’s market of aphrodisiacs has expanded even further to embrace a wider range from the sublime to the incredibly dangerous and illegal.
