Whether you love them or not, dandelions (Taraxacum officinale) are perhaps the most familiar plant in the world. They are the one species of plant that just about anyone can identify at a glance.
Dandelions as a large genus of flowering plants in the Asteraceae family, are one of the most successful plants that exist as they are the masters of survival. Nowadays they are the most unpopular garden plant, but it wasn’t always like that. It wasn’t until the twentieth century that humans decided dandelions were weeds and went out of their way to kill them, but before the invention of lawns the golden blossoms and lion toothed leaves were praised as a bounty of food, medicine and magic.
