Constipation and Dietary Links
For many years, fat was the public enemy number one, but the Atkins and South Beach diets are blaming obesity on eating too many carbs.

Atkins and the South beach diets are a passing fad. As a consequence people are awakening to find that they are not only obese, but they have numerous digestive health problems such as constipation, kidney stones, haemorrhoids and high cholesterol caused by these diets. It is interesting to note that both these diets were developed by medical doctors, not naturopaths.

The question is, have these diets really contributed to excellent health in those who created them? Dr Atkins death was supposedly from a fall, but doubts have surfaced about his health at the tie of his death at 72 years of age.  How many people have tried the Atkins diet and ended up with fatigue with muscle aches and pains, constipation or with other digestive problems? I’ll bet many of you out there can relate to this after going on a low carb and high protein diet. Dr Atkins can’t help but concede the health benefits associated with fibre, in his own words ‘”Plenty of fibre can be found in vegetables, nuts and seeds, fruits, beans and whole refined grains” but then why has these dietary followers ended up putting on weight?
