Historically called, Palma Christi (Palm of Christ) was the name given during the Middle Ages to the common castor oil plant. (Virginia Beach: ARE Press, 1967).
No-one knows why it was so named, but it appears from clinical observation of the manner in which various conditions respond to packs of castor oil, that it has the effect of stimulating the activity of the lymphatic streams, while at the same time enhancing the elimination of toxic substances from the cells locally where the castor oil is applied.
